Why do we need certified organic cosmetics ?

France is a pionneer in the field of certified Organic Farming, but until 2003, it had no official reference for certified Cosmetics. It is even possible to find "organic" shampoo in the hard-discount ! Therefore the consumer had no sound element in order to assess the ecological and organic values of products.

The professionals adhering to «Cosmébio», want to give the following guaranties to the consumer :

• quality raw materials (as much as possible coming from Organic Farming),
  
• use of natural cosmetic ingredients which are not polluting (no contaminating substances such as heavy metals, petro-chemicals, pesticides, dioxins, GMOs, nitrates, silicones, ...),
  
• a tracing system guaranteed by an independant certificator (certification by Ecocert),
  
• a clear and precise labelling on the package

What distinguishes the environmentally-friendly and organic certified Cosmetics ?

• 95% of the ingredients (minimum) are natural or from natural origin,
  
• 10% of those ingredients (minimum) must be organically certified.

This means safety and transparency for the consumer !

In order to warrant this commitment, Cosmebio has worked
closely with Ecocert, the number one agency for organic
certification. Ecocert controls the effective application of
the rules which the manufacturer must respect.

This effort also translates in further information given to the consumer :

•  translation of the INCI list in vernacular language,
  
•  percentages and indications of the ingredients from organic farming are clearly indicated.
