Our harvests in
Provence :
Cade, Ciste, Eucalyptus, Cedar
Provence, where we operate from, is the country of the Sun and perfumes.
Closeby it is easy for us to find aromatic trees and plants such as:
Cades, Cistes, Eucalyptus, Cedars... It is fundamental to choose the
right time for picking them up, because the aromatic principles are
most present during hot periods or in Spring while they blossom
|
 |
* Cade Juniperus
oxicedrus
The Cade belongs to the family of the Juniper, very
abundant in the Provence area. It is a base for most of our sticks.
|
 |
We only use the heart of the wood, which is the most
aromatic part.
The branches ae difficult to clean since the tree is full of knots.
Then we have to cut into small bits this wood which hard as stone,
and then gring it into a fine powder...
Cade oil was often used in the recent past in Provence for its insect-repelling
properties
|
 |
* Ciste |
|
Harvested in Spring when blossoming, this
rare plant grows in France only in the extreme South of the country.
It sweats a balm with a penetrating perfume, very thick and greenish.
It is caled Labdanum and is also used for the fabrication of ointments.
As far as we are concerned, we use the entire plant in order to avoid
wastes, which happens when producing the Labdanum.
It is mainly a balsamic smell of the South, bringing back memories
hot summer evenings.
The Ciste of Montpellier is its cousin of the Maquisest. Its smell
is more spicy and wild.
|
 |

* Eucalyptus
|

 |
Eucalyptus comes originally from Australia
and now has spread in the whole Mediterranean area, where there are
many different types.
We use the smelly leaves, this smell opens up the lungs. The new Spring
leaves are particularly aromatic.
We have the Eucalyptus globulus on account of its medicinal and olfactory
properties
|
 |
* Cedar
|
 |
The Cedar tree is not an indigeneous tree
of Provence originally, but nowadays it is well know and grows easily
because it spreads spontaneously.
Certain forests are renowned for their splendour and their sovereign
quietness.
We only use the heart of the tree which is of a beautiful yellow-orange
and which contains a powerful oil with a most sought-after balsamic
scent.
The Cedar wood is a perfect insect repellent: if you walk in a Cedar
forest you will notice the absence of insects under the trees.

from far and away :
Apart from the plants which we process ourselves, resins such as Olibanum,
Benzoin and Myrrh come from their native countries.
We reduce these resins into the finest powder and generously incorporate
it in our Buring Sticks because of their unmatchable aromatic qualities.
Maybe some of you will recognise those smells, maybe from the churh
where they are widely used.

Benzoin and Incense,
Which sing the travels of the spirit and of the senses »
